Parenthood Direct
partnered to offer accessible at-home
STD tests and telemedicine services.
How does it work?
Planned Parenthood Direct and TBD Health have teamed up to provide at-home STD testing. Order online, and a clinician will review the request and send you a test. You’ll be able to test from the comfort and privacy of home for various STDs. Results are available 2-3 days once received by our lab, and if you test positive (or just have questions), you can do a telemedicine consult where our clinicians will walk through next steps and prescribe treatment to you and any partner(s), if appropriate.
Who is TBD Health?
TBD Health is a sexual health platform that provides at-home STD testing nationwide along with two clinics in Las Vegas and Denver.
Which STD test should I get?
Check out our Quiz. For specific guidance on your specific needs, please book a telemedicine consult through PPD or TBD Health.
What information is shared between PPD and TBD Health?
The at-home testing program is run by TBD Health, and your information related to the test and results will only be available to TBD Health. You can check out their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
How long do results take?
It takes about 2-3 days to process results once they have reached our partner lab.
What happens if I test positive?
If you screen positive (or even if you just have questions), we’re here at every step. You’ll schedule a telemedicine consult and our licensed, non-judgmental clinicians will walk you through your results, next steps – and prescribe medication for you and your partner(s), if appropriate. Note that for some STDs, TBD Health is required by law to report a positive result to the applicable Department of Health.
What samples will I need to collect?
It depends on the test! Our tests use a variety of sample collection methods including urine, swab and microtainers for blood.
How do I create an account?
It’s easy! Simply go to https://my.tbd.health/ and click on Create Account. Complete the fields (don’t forget to enter the confirmation code) and then click on Register Kit to enter your Kit ID. Your Kit ID can be found on the bottom of your Kit—it’s the 10-digit number on top of your barcode.
Do you take insurance? What about HSA/FSA?
Not right now, but we are working on it! We can absolutely provide a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement. Email hello@tbd.health for more info or to request a superbill. We also take most HSA/FSA plans as well.
Are at-home tests accurate?
Yes—and TBD Health labs are leaders in direct-to-consumer testing. In fact, they’re the same labs that physicians, hospitals and universities use (all CLIA-approved).
